Illustration Friday - "Rain"

My plan was to do "cut paper" acid rain. Plans change.

The other day I tried out the free demo of "ArtRage 2" (link) and within the first ten minutes of playing around with it I decided to buy it. Not a huge investment – only $19.95 compared to $199 for "Autodesk (formerly Alias) Sketchbook Pro" – but one that I think will be well worth it. The interface is fantastic and easy to use and while it might not be as configurable as "Sketchbook", there's still a LOT you can do with it. And, while it's nice to have a tablet to use with it, it isn't necessary. It's not going to replace Photoshop for me, but it'll make a very nice addition for when I'm in a "natural" media mood.

Comments, as always, are welcome.

I like the detail you show of the water droplets rolling off of his hair - great job.

Awesome! Love everything about it, especially the misty look on the top side of the face.

Hey it's raining on that guys head!

I laughed at your last post... "back in the day." I remember those days when blogging use to be fun... it's such work now. and it does look more like a big girl toy...

oh COOL! I also bought ArtRage after playing with the demo for one day. I use it mostly to clean up my pencil lines since I like it's pencil/paper texture algorithm (is that the right word?) better than PS. BUT... AR can't really handle big. The best it can do is about 8" x 10". Otherwise it's a hoot!
Is this a self-portrait?

Hey! haven't been by in a few weeks, but just wanted to say that whole Dora thing and the reply was hi-larious.

I totally agree with you. Perhaps little kids who love Dora would never come to that conclusion, but the fact that EVERYONE else would says that perhaps that is not the design that should have been the winner. What didn't get picked if that was the best one?
