Illustration Friday: "E is for..."

I'm keeping with the "cut paper" look again for this one. I want to develop that style a bit more. I'm considering working with Heather on rewriting and illustrating a public domain fairy tale in this style and posting it a page at a time online. That's a bit down the road though, after a few other projects that I'm trying to finish. In the meantime, here's my take on this week's Illustration Friday theme. As always, comments are appreciated:

The paper cut-out, layered look is great. This is a very cool style.

On the subject matter... I hope this is not an all-inclusive view of Christianity. There are many who understand the call to forgiveness and restoration. Not enough people read the verse AFTER John 3:16.

Lee: Well, I'm glad to have surprised you! Thanks for visiting.

Suzan: Thanks!

Derek: Heheh.

Anonymous: Thank you! Finally, an Anonymous commenter that isn't spam. And you are SURE you aren't a 3-toed midget? Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Don: Thanks. And no, isn't not a damning view of Christianity. I was just sitting around this weekend trying to think of an "E" word that nobody else would likely use. It was this or Evisceration, and that would not have translated to cut paper as well.

Tony: Thank you. I'll see if I can continue it for awhile. Boredom has yet to set in.

Eviseration was the first word I thought of also--my wife talked me out of it. Loved your reaper and zombie blogs.

so of course i loooove this! the way you tweaked out the church is totally great! i have been so busy this week but i think you are the only person who came up with this idea and it is so clever and well done! Great job, collin and i look forward to your future posts. I really love this!!!

*whew* :-) ..."Evisceration", I'm definately going to have to look that one up! LOL

Tony: It's probably for the best. And thanks! I was just thinking the other day that I needed to find some time to add to one or the other of them. Probably the zombie blog. I have several ideas that I need to get written before they are lost or go stale. We'll see.

Valgalart: Thanks! That really means a lot coming from someone with your talent. I can't wait for the next topic. I'm finding that it's really helping clean some of the rust off of my drawing skills.

Don: Once you have you'll see why I decided to steer clear of it. First thoughts aren't always the best thoughts.

This one I forwarded a link to my brother who is a preacher (with a sense of humor). Thank goodness I'm not submitting pictures... E would have been for Excrement :-P Keep up the good work...
